A broken, missing, or loose denture can interrupt a resident’s daily routine and leave a care team arranging calls, transportation, and appointments. For Houston nursing homes and assisted living facilities, knowing whom to contact makes that next step easier.
MAP Dental Center offers denture duplication, repairs, relines, and replacement options, with one-day care available for eligible cases. Our in-house laboratory allows the dentist and technicians to coordinate the work at the same location. An examination and the laboratory schedule determine what can be completed that day.
Administrators, nursing directors, resident care coordinators, and families can start with our denture services for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
How many nursing homes and assisted living facilities are listed in Houston?
We reviewed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s active-license directories dated October 7, 2026. Counting distinct facility IDs with Houston in the physical-address city field produced the following results:
| Directory category | Houston facility records |
|---|---|
| Assisted living facilities | 180 |
| Nursing facilities | 57 |
Source: our count of distinct facility IDs in the HHSC Assisted Living directory (Excel) and HHSC Nursing Facility directory (Excel), downloaded October 8, 2026. These are directory records, not resident counts or unique company owners. The address-city filter is not a municipal-boundary count or a Greater Houston total. Independent-living communities and hospital-based nursing facilities listed separately are not included. Listings can change.
For a facility team, the practical question is how to connect a resident with appropriate dental care when a denture problem arises. The plan may involve a family member, an authorized representative, and staff who help arrange the visit.
Three denture services to discuss with our team
1. Duplication and backup dentures
If a resident likes an existing denture, ask whether its design can guide a duplicate or backup set. Planning ahead while the denture is still available gives the dentist something to assess. A backup request is also an opportunity to discuss the fit and appearance the resident wants to retain.
The dentist evaluates the resident’s mouth and existing denture before recommending duplication. Copying a worn or poorly fitting appliance may carry those problems into the new one. Learn about duplicate and replacement dentures.
2. Repairs, adjustments, and relines
A crack, a damaged denture tooth, and a loose fit do not necessarily call for the same treatment. Bring the appliance and any available pieces so the team can evaluate the concern. Depending on the findings, the dentist may recommend a repair, adjustment, reline, or replacement.
Our denture repair and reline services include assessment of both the denture and the mouth. A description or photograph can help explain the concern, but it does not replace that examination.
3. Replacement or a denture refresh
When a denture no longer meets a resident’s needs, the conversation can focus on a replacement or changes to fit, tooth shape, or appearance. The appropriate approach depends on oral health, the existing appliance, and the resident’s goals. Explore full dentures and partial dentures with our team.
What does same-day denture treatment mean?
MAP offers one-day options for eligible duplication, repair/reline, and replacement cases. Same-day service describes the work approved for that visit; it does not guarantee that every stage of a treatment plan happens in a single appointment.
Records, preparation, extractions, healing, or follow-up adjustments can require additional visits. For example, the American Dental Association explains that immediate dentures are placed on the day teeth are removed, but measurements are taken beforehand and later relining or replacement may be needed as healing occurs. The ADA also advises contacting a dentist when dentures become damaged or stop fitting well. Read the ADA’s denture guidance.
Before arranging transportation, call to discuss the concern and request a suitable appointment. Our team will confirm availability, and the dentist will determine treatment suitability. See our same-day denture care page for more information.

How facilities can coordinate care with MAP
Angela Granillo, Denture Consultant, is a contact for facility staff and families who want help discussing denture services and arranging next steps. Clinical recommendations are made by the dentist after evaluation.
- Contact our team. Tell us whether you represent a nursing home, assisted living facility, or family, and describe the general denture concern.
- Discuss appointment arrangements. Let us know about transportation, mobility, communication, and caregiver needs so we can discuss arrangements before the visit.
- Prepare for the evaluation. Bring existing dentures and available pieces, identification, insurance information, and a current medication list. Confirm any resident-consent or authorized-representative arrangements with the office.
- Confirm the plan and follow-up. Ask which work may be completed that day and what additional appointments or adjustments may be needed.
Mobile dentist visits may be available in some cases. Contact our office to confirm suitability and availability for your facility. An inquiry does not automatically arrange an on-site visit.
